INTRODUCTION:

A USBA Biathlon Safety Certification Class will be held at Blackhawk Ski Club from 9:00 AM to Noon on April 13, 2013. This class will result in certification to participate in USBA open races. The class will cover biathlon safety, range procedures, race formats and shooting instruction. This course will also cover rifle selection and costs and the opportunity to shoot different rifles. Participants should dress appropriate to be outside for a good portion of the morning. The class will be held rain, snow or shine.

REGISTRATION AND ENTRY FEES:

Event registration and release of liability forms will be available the day of the clinic and will take place in the Jumping Chalet at the bottom of the road at the east club entrance and on the 50 meter biathlon range.

Fees are $50 for adults and $25 for middle and high school students. Clinic is limited to first 75 participants pre-registration is recommended, payment will be accepted day of event at check in.

8:30- 9:00 Registration

9:00- 10:00 Introduction to Biathlon—Biathlon history, Elements of a biathlon race— Boy/Girls, Youth, Junior, Senior and Masters Programs, Race formats and requirements, Training Plans

10:00- 11:00 Range Procedures– Rifle safety and handling, operation of a range, ballistics from a safety standpoint, shooting positions and form, rifle care and cleaning

11:00- 12:00 Biathlon/Shooting—Shooting basics, an accurate shot, rifle fitting, scoping, zeroing, sighting in, practice drills

12:00- 1:00 Range Practice- Shooting, range procedures,
