US Biathlon Team Nominations for the 2012 Youth Olympic Games

The best biathletes in the country gathered to compete in the North American Rollerski Biathlon Championships this past weekend in Jericho, Vermont. Those athletes with birth years 1994 and 1995 were finishing a 9 race series that had begun in December of 2010. Performance in this race series and National Team staff discretionary assessment were used to select the team that will represent the United States at the first ever Youth Winter Olympic Games which will be held in Innsbruck, Austria,  January 13-21, 2012. There will be 4 biathlon events at the Youth Olympic Games-  Sprint, Pursuit, Mixed Relay, and Mixed Biathlon and Cross Country Relay.

The International Competition Committee reviewed and approved the Youth Olympic Games nominations today.   Athletes nominated to the team will need to sign and adhere to a USBA Training Agreement, and team selections will still be reviewed by the US Olympic Committee until they are considered final.

The US Biathlon Association congratulates the athletes that were named to the Youth Olympic Games Team.  For more information regarding the YOG events, go to: http://www.innsbruck2012.com/en/
