Minnesota Biathlon Kicks off Advertising Campaign
Minnesota Biathlon will kick off a major fundraising and publicity campaign on Sunday, March 2nd. Large color ads will run in the Star Tribune, Duluth News Tribune, Grand Rapids Herald Review, and Minnesota Business. The newspaper ads will be supported by information here and on our fundraising hotline- 1 800 579 1215.

The goal of this fundraising campaign is to raise $250,000 over the next year to support youth development programs and venue development around the state. Mt Itasca is the main biathlon venue for the Midwest, and with the introduction of snow making and Pisten Bully grooming, has also become the premier nordic venue in the Midwest. Minnesota Biathlon has been a major driving force behind the development of Mt. Itasca as a biathlon/nordic site, and continued capital improvements are planned for the 2003-2004 season.

Minnesota Biathlon's mission is to introduce and coach youth in the sport of biathlon, to educate new coaches, and to develop new biathlon programs and venues around the region. Currently there are youth biathlon programs in the Twin Cities, Duluth, Grand Rapids/Coleraine, Ely, Brainerd, and St Cloud.

As a youth development organization, Minnesota Biathlon is unrivaled. Kids that get involved in biathlon develop dedication, focus and self confidence. The proof is in the number of Minnesota youth who have become talented and competitive biathletes and have gone on to race in national and international events. Three Minnesota biathletes qualified for the 2002 U.S. Winter Olympics team, and Minnesotans have dominated the ranks of the U.S. Junior National Team for the past eight years.

The simple fact is ó Minnesota Biathlon sends more biathletes to competitions around the country and world than any other program in the nation.

And with training facilities in Elk River, St. Cloud, Duluth, Brainerd, Coleraine and soon, Ely, Minnesota Biathlon has truly become a statewide phenomenon.

But all this growth takes money. There are athletes to train, facilities to improve, coaches to hire, races to hold and dreams to come true.

You can help Minnesota biathletes show the world their stuff with a tax-deductible donation. Simply click the Donate Button, or call 800-579-1215.
