Steve Scott Qualifies for XC World Junior Team Well, sure enough things went well- here's a brief
synopsis of Steve's performance and as well as some news as regarding
Lindsay Williams
and Lindsay Weir-
both Twin Cities skiers that qualified for the World Junior Team: The U.S. Ski team named their World Junior Championships teams this evening. St. Paul's own Steve Scott was named to the team as a sprint specialist. Steve came to U.S. Nationals just for this event, and posted a fast enough qualifying time to make the knock out rounds. Even though he crashed in his first knock out heat and did not advance, his impressive performance in the qualifying earned him enough points to be named to the team. Bryan Cook of Rhinelander was also named to the team, as were Andy Newell, Stratton Mt. Leif Zimmermann, Bozeman, MT, Ryan Foster, Burlington, VT, Glenn Randall, Grand Junction, CO, Lindsay Williams powered to the top junior finish in the sprints to earn herself a return trip to World Juniors. She advanced to the B-Finals and finished sixth among all racers, just behind Wendy Wagner. She will be joined on the U.S. World Junior team by Lindsey Weier, Kristina Trygstadd-Sarri, Alison Crocker, Katie Ronsee and Carina Hamel. The Scandinavian J1 trip was also named on Thursday.
Hopkins racer Courtney Dauwalter
made the U.S. Team. This trip will be led by White Noise Coach Randy
Gibbs. December Training Update from Dan Campbell On the other hand lake placid is nice right now,
all the trails are groomed, there is unlimited food, and there are all
kinds of things to keep us occupied. Last weekend it was a skeleton world
cup and flying with Lowell's dad in his plane (see
pic), this weekend there was a bobsled world
cup. This week we will have three more time trials and then we'll be heading
home for the races in grand rapids. Later,
Dan Dan Campbell Training in Lake Placid and Vermont Between camps we had 3 days off so Steve Scott and I went down to the shawangunks, the local hot spot for rock climbing. We were hosted by former biathlete Mark Ruoff, who fed us at his restaurant the Mountain Brauhaus. After this we had to get back north to Jericho, where Algis was awaiting our arrival. The second half of camp started off much easier than the first had, slowfire and low intensity workouts, but soon it was back to combos and racing. The camp ended with 3 races in four days, and after seeing our results we know we have plenty of work to do this fall. Now, we are having some down time before daily training starts again, so I am working at the Home Depot and relaxing in my gated military community. Keep up the good work and always wear your helmet (even if it hits your barrel). Dan Campbell P.S. Photo credits for the summer biathlon photos
