European Biathlon #7

Hi again,

On Sunday, in Poland the format was single mixed relay. The US did not enter a team.

In Slovenia, it was another Sprint race. The 10 km Men’s race, the winner was Russian again, with o,1 shooting. The US was slowly closing the gap. Vasek Cervenka shot 0,1 and was 2:09 back for 24th place, Travis Cooper, 1,1, 2:36 back for 27th; Cam Christiansen shooting 0,1 and 3:28 back for 43rd. Cody Johnson did not start.

In the Women’s 7.5 km race, the Russians again went 1,2 with the winner missing 1 shot and 2nd place 2 misses. Siena Ellingson shot 0,2 and finished 3:21 back for 30th place, and Amanda Kautzer went clean in prone, but missed 3 in standing, 4:54 back for 44th place.

From here the team will move up to Czech Republic to the Nove Mesto facility near Prague for the Open European Junior Championships. Competition begins again on Thursday with both Mens and Womans Individual races. Remember, the Individual has 20 shots with a 1 minute penalty per miss, and is the longest race distance of all the formats.
