Wisconsin Biathlon Cup Race #4 will take place at the McMiller Sports Center in Eagle, Wisconsin S103W38754 County Road NN, Eagle, WI 53119

OPEN RACE:

The Open race is for biathletes with previous biathlon experience that are also USBA “Red Book” safety certified. The race format will be a time trial. There will be 5 skiing stages (2.0K each) and 4 shooting rounds (PPSS). A 150 meter penalty loop is included for each missed shot. Athletes 16 and younger (as of Dec 2015) will race a shorter 7.5K version (PPPP / PPSS).

Important: You must make the appropriate “Distance” selection during online registration for your age on 31 Dec 2015:
10K (17 and older)
7.5K (16 and under)

Club rifles will not be available for the open race unless pre-arranged. All athletes must provide their own ammunition (subsonic .22LR unplated lead) or purchase ammo from the club. Uncertified biathletes will not be allowed to ski with a rifle on the course.

NOVICE RACE:

The Novice race is designed for Nordic skiers age 12 and up that would like to have a really enjoyable and authentic biathlon experience. The race format will be a time trial. There will be 3 skiing stages (2.0 K each) and 2 shooting rounds, both laying prone (PP). A 150 meter penalty loop is included for each missed shot. The WI Biathlon Association will provide volunteer coaches, basic shooting training, rifles, ammunition, timing and scoring. Our goal is to provide safe and easy access for all participants to have an authentic experience with the Winter Olympic sport of Biathlon. Participants must supply their own Nordic ski equipment (Skate or Classic). Uncertified biathletes will not be allowed to ski with a rifle on the course. All club rifles will remain in place at the firing line. Each firing point will be supervised throughout the race by an adult, USBA safety certified biathlete or coach.

FEE SCHEDULE:

Open Race

WI Department of Natural Resources Approved Event Please do not remove

$ 15 for Juniors (10 yrs minimum to participate, 15 yrs minimum to carry a rifle)
$ 25 for WI Biathlon paid members and Blackhawk Ski Club members
+ $ 10 for Adult non-members
+ $ 15 for same-day registration in person on race day (please register early online)
+ $ 10 if you do not have an annual USBA membership (bring filled out form at link below)

(this is the USBA “member for a day” and goes directly to the USBA) + $ 5 if you require race ammunition to be provided by WI Biathlon

Novice Race

$ 30 for Juniors (10 yrs minimum to participate, 15 yrs minimum to carry a rifle)
$ 40 for Adults
+ $ 15 for same-day registration in person on race day (please register early online)

Note that both the Junior and Adult Novice race fee include $10 for USBA “member for a day”

A “Competitor” level annual USBA membership or USBA “member for a day” is required to cover race liability insurance.

RIFLE USE:

All Open race participants are required to supply their own rifle and ammunition. All ammunition must be biathlon target compatible (subsonic .22LR unplated lead). Uncertified biathletes will not be allowed to ski with a rifle on the course. Club rifles will not be available for the Open race unless pre-arranged.
